People search engines have breeched any sense of personal privacy.
I think the worst part of it is the limited ability of the person who's information is being shared to the public at large.

Detailed instructions on how to unlock your iPhone here..
once they got the compilers and soldering I was lost forever and I won't be bothered with this myself and I will just continue to use my old unlocked Motorola for my trips abroad.
but for some of you, unlike me with time and the ability to follow directions..have a great time.

Finally!... Smart cars will be arriving early 2008 to the US. I am very excited about this.. There is already huge demand and deposits are already being taken.
I imagine I won't be able to get for at least a year but this will be my next car unless someone comes out with a very cute convertible hybrid or electric car first.
Bay Area drivers get first look at tiny Smart and they like what they see

New scooter zips along nicely for pennies per mile This headline caught my eye because I am always interested in design that solves problems of the greater good.
This scooter is a zero emmissions vehicle, it is soundless and low cost to power.
The 11K price tag unfortunately makes it prohibitively expensive right now but as we all know technology gets cheaper and cheaper as adoption and demand widens.
I am not entirely convinced electrical power is a sustainable solution. Electric power has it's own implications on the environment but, we have to start somewhere.
This made me think of one my favorite songwriters..
the highly underrated Duncan Sheik who wrote the following in his song White Limousine:
"America, America, this is our reward
Everything is boring, everyone is bored
Maybe a white
Maybe a white limousine
Maybe a white, white, white, white limousine
Who's the smart guy at the wheel
Running out of gas
Likes to wear a flight suit
and fly around for laughs
Maybe a white
Maybe a white limousine
Maybe a white, white, white, white limousine
I feel incentives for the pharmacy
Hey I'm feeling better already
I don't want to be clear
It's too much for me
I'm making up
Oh, I'm making up
For lost time
For all the lost time
We have won the war
We have won the war"
I personally want to proud to be American.
Not ashamed to be part of a consumer-oriented, imperialist, decadent, slovenly, wasteful society who votes in madmen to run the largest economy in the world.
I want to see out future as the innovative, ecologically-minded, progressive, diverse and solution-oriented place we could be.

Todays something to love is the conceptual art project. The Thing. Artists will send a thing to your home. This thing will incorporate text and based on the artists participating (one of my favorite artists Miranda July is the first in the queue) The Thing Quarterly seems like a smashing idea.
Bravo!

The project I worked on this Summer at Domus Academy in Milan has been posted on the Domus Project website.
This is the Domus Academy Project site: http://projects.domusacademy.net/

The course was tangible electronic tools and the course project brief was all around mobility and social networking. The aspect I chose to explore was Media Expression. How one expresses oneself in blogs or to others.
I think our project got slightly tangential however (which is okay) and instead of doing a deep dive on mobility concerning blogging, our project took a slight detour into phatic communications.
The concept we came up with was called Momento. It is a small device that enables one to find others based on their profile information - it will find people who match you and point them out like a compass.
If you like a person you can appoint them your "north" on the compass.
I was pleased with Momento overall - but I think I would like to explore another project around physical community and technology rather than virtual communities.
I plan to start working on a concept that expands around the display unit featured in Momento.
In fact, I think it might be a good project to propose for Octavia Green.
