Oryx and Crake

More than anyone needs to know about one of my very favorite books...

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood who is my very favorite contemporary author.

The official Oryx and Crake website.
and an excellent Guardian UK audio interview with Ms. Atwood on dystopia, good and evil and her thoughts on writing. This is an mp3.

nice news

A surfer saved a dog from drowning in Lake Michigan. The mixed breed pooch was swept off a pier by a wave as his disabled owner watched helplessly. Fortunately a quick thinking surfer swooped the dog up on to his board and rode the pooch safely to shore.

do the right thing

Apple will be offering $100.00 store credit to those who purchased the iPhone prior to the price drop.
Brilliant move--- builds loyalty, lets users know they are listening and in a way forces users to purchase more product...

Excellence in Flight

Virgin America

I flew Virgin America over the long weekend and was very impressed with both their pre-flight User Experience and in-flight User Experience.

They have these very clear and straightforward check-in kiosks.
And in-flight there is an interactive system called Red.

The best feature on Red is the chat - there are chat room one can enter based on topics to chat with other passengers in-flight..

brilliant
